Cabinet Ministers from six states file review in Supreme Court against the August 17 court order dismissing pleas to postpone exams scheduled in September. The petition filed says SC order fails to “secure the safety, security and Right to Life of the Students/Candidates appearing for the NEET/JEE exams”. The ministers from West Bengal, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Maharashtra have filed review petition.

NTA is all prepared to conduct JEE Main 2020 April/September exam

As per media reports, 10 lakh masks, 10 lakh pairs of gloves, 1,300 infrared thermometer guns, 6,600 litres of hand sanitizer and an equal amount of disinfectant liquid, 6,600 sponges, 3,300 spray bottles and 3,300 cleaning staff for the exam. The additional cost for all these is almost Rs 13 crore.

Education Minister has shared that according to NTA, 7.5 lakh out of 8.58 lakh candidates have downloaded the JEE Main 2020 admit card which shows candidates want to appear in the examination at any cost. He added, “JEE exam centres have been increased to 660 from 570 while there are now 3,842 NEET centres, up from 2,546 for the convenience of students. Students have also been allotted exam centres of their choice”.

Various Guidelines to be followed by the NTA for the safety of students during the JEE Main 2020

NTA Director has laid out the many precautions that have been put in place. He said that separate SOPs for students, examination centres and procedures to be followed have been notified by NTA. Furthermore, measures like odd-even and social distancing as well as increasing exam centres have been put in place to ensure the safety of students.

With less than five days left for JEE Main and around 15 days for NEET 2020, the demand to postpone both the exams have surfaced again. Even though the Supreme Court recently rejected a plea seeking postponement of NEET and JEE examinations 2020, students are still demanding to cancel the two exams.

JEE Main 2020 exam centres increased from 570 to 660

Through a press release, NTA has confirmed that the number of JEE Main 2020 exam centres have been increased from 570 to 660. More than 99% of candidates are given their first choice of exam centre.

A press release has been released by the authority. For JEE Main 2020 April/September exam, a total 8,58,273 candidates have applied for JEE Main 2020 April/September exam and total registered for BE/BTech exam only are 7,46,115 candidates.

Supreme Court has dismissed a petition filed by advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava seeking rescheduling of the JEE Main and NEET. The advocate filed the petition on behalf of 11 students from 11 states across the country.
