Go through the roles available to LLB graduates in India. Also, undergo the list of top recruiters who hire law graduates.

Graduation may be a feeling that’s hard to precise and everybody is keen to start out their jumpstart careers and begin earning. While many folks get campus placements, many folks don’t and lots of folks don’t prefer to choose campus placements. There are many prospects available to law students that they will pursue after completing their course. From becoming a lawyer or an advocate to a paralegal, a lawman , lecturer, and more, there are various legal roles offered to those graduates.

With a mean annual salary offered of Rs 4 to six lakhs once a year (LPA), these professionals are hospitable working in several industries like Law firms, Government Agencies, MNCs, Judicial Bodies, Banks, Litigation, etc.

Largely career options after LLB can be classified as:

  1. Private jobs
  2. Government jobs
  3. Teaching job
  4. Advocacy

For becoming a professor it’s now mandatory to possess a PhD within the law field that you simply want to show and thus it becomes important to seem for LLM entrance exams. The LLM is again either a 1 year or two years course. DU offers a two-year course but the course duration doesn’t make a difference, choosing one year LLM course is best because it saves tons of your time . but many like better to do LLM from an honest university and lots of choose a not-so-good type where attendance and performance aren’t a problem and keep preparing for internet exam. In my opinion, choosing a reputed university is extremely essential because it helps in interviews also. Many pursue LLM from abroad also .

Those who wish to go for professorship may not wish to enroll themselves with the Bar Council and those who opt for the private jobs should not enroll with the bar as it is prohibited and your enrollment can be cancelled and your thousands of money will be wasted.

For government jobs many options are open like the judiciary, APO, in PSUs (taking on the basis of CLAT LLM score). One should really work hard for all government jobs as they are few, less notified, and highly competitive.

One who is willing to start his/her own practice should immediately get enrolled in the bar and appear for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) which is compulsory to clear to practice law in India. It occurs biannually. You cannot argue in court if you have not cleared the AIBE exam.

If you have a good CV then it is a cakewalk to get a good job. What makes a good CV is

  1. Field of internship, i.e., nature of work and with reputed firms/advocates
  2. Number of articles and research papers you have published in good journals
  3. Performance in Moot Court
  4. Participation in debates
  5. Participation in judgment writing competitions
  6. Additional courses from good universities etc.
  1. Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.
  2. Trilegal India, Khaitan & Co.
  3. DSK Legal
  4. Anand & Anand
  5. Desai & Diwanji
  6. Luthra and Luthra
  7. Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan
  8. Platinum Partners

But what about the students who do not have a good CV? Well, the truth is you require a good CV only if you want to work under someone, for everything else your knowledge will work magic for you. If you want to go for a corporate job and do not have a good CV you should start interning in a good firm either in your last semester or after graduation for at least 6 months which opens your chances to a job opening in the firm.

But in government jobs, your CV does not come to play, although having LL.M is beneficial in career prospects in the judiciary.
