Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) Jamshedpur

Course name: PGDHRM

XLRI is among the pioneers of human-resource management and the oldest business management schools of India. The school began with training courses for trade union leaders. Established in 1949, XLRI started with a two-year full-time Main Industrial Relations Welfare programme. In the past five decades, the course has evolved and now it is PGD in Human Resource Management. Today, a student can choose to specialise in Human Resource or Industrial Relations. XLRI increased the intake by 60 seats.

The MDI’s PGP-HRM course has been created in collaboration with National HRD Network. It has been created keeping in mind the continuous evolving roles of HR managers in business organisations. MDI is ranked 16th across India in the NIRF-MHRD ranking for 2017 and 5th in the India Today ranking for 2017.

With an intake of 60 students, the programme promises the development of an individual into a professionally competent and socially sensitive graduate through case studies, presentations, dissertation, fieldwork, etc.

IMI-Delhi’s Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) programme is a two-year programme including a summer internship at the end of the first year. The programme is conceptualized keeping in mind the need for business-savvy HR professionals who are sensitive to the need of the business environment and are adept at creating a valuable human resource.

IIM-Ranchi is the first IIM to offer an HRM Programme. IIM Ranchi’s PGDHMR is a two-year programme divided into six terms. In the first year, the curriculum consists of general aspects of management including business communications, operations, marketing, organisational structure, business ethics, etc.; and in the second year, the candidates are taught the nitty-gritty of Human Resource Management.

The two-year PGDM programme in Human Resources at XISS, Ranchi, aims to develop a dynamic personality by training students and nurturing them with values built on the edifice of social-awareness. XISS stresses learning through theoretical as well as practical knowledge for the holistic development of HR professional.

Course name: MBA (HR)

University Business School, Panjab University offers MBA in HR at its Chandigarh campus. One of the most affordable MBA programmes, the UBS course is of two-year duration. With a limited seat intake of 34 students, the university aims at providing the best of the latest global learning and training in the field of HR.

Course Name: PGDMHRM

According to Professor S Jairaman, “The fundamental USP of HR management course is to inculcate the ability among students to think on their own. We identify candidates according to their strengths and weaknesses. The MHRM course at IISWBM has been aligned with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) which is at par with several universities of USA. “The programme is designed to present a liberal business education and prepare students for careers in managing human resources in the industry. The emphasis is on an integrated understanding of the business, its philosophy and socio-economic inter-relationship. It is specially designed to develop and enhance the basic managerial skills and abilities of students and to equip them with appropriate tools of modern management for better decision-making. Short training courses on Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), Advanced Excel and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) are provided to students by experts on a regular basis,” informs the B-School.
