The college was built with a sole objective of offering higher education opportunities to women to nearby areas like North East Delhi, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. Prof. S Nurul Hasan laid the foundation stone of the building on 26th October 1976, the college had a humble beginning with approximately 300 students who were admitted to B.A (Pass) Course. Currently, the college caters to over Established In : 2000 students who are inducted into various Undergraduate Honors courses. Vivekananda College also offers Postgraduate Degree in Sanskrit and Hindi.Vivekananda College has a vast 10 acres campus out of which almost 5 acres are for the recreational purpose such as sports.
