The donor late Dr. SORABJI & SAROSH SORABJI GHANDHY, A local ZORASTRIAN Medical Practitioner, was the Prime Driving Force behind the establishment of this Institute, who donated Rs. 0.52 million in the year of 1952. Actually, he had a dream of starting a Degree Engineering College, not just a Polytechnic and so, he named the college as Dr. S. & S. S. GHANDHY COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY. Later on, The TYPE : Government of Bombay State acquired the land building and equipment at the cost of Rs. 0.605 Million.

SPORTS ACTIVITIES:Our college has a well conserve sports ground. There is a 400m athletics track and facilities for all area events. The Physical Education Dept. maintains Basket ball, Volleyball, and Kabaddi courts and a TT room with facility for Chess. There are cricket net facility and a 12 station multi-gym with the modern weight lifting set.We encourage candidates to participate in local, regional & national level sports events. Our candidates have been performing well at all these levels. The Physical study Dept. of the college has arrangements with Karan Stadium, Karnal to get our sports persons specialised coaching through the State Govt. appointed coaches.
