There has been a tremendous development in the field of Health care and medicine during last few years; Unfortunately the ratio between this development and availability of trained manpower is inversely proportional to each other The main reason being that while every effort has been made to upgrade the technology,the aspect of having an infrastructure where training to the technical person could be imparted has been totally ignored. The Situation, therefore is that we have advanced technology and outdated manpower. The only solution to this problem lies in making provision for such courses which can train a person in the field of Para Medical Technology.Osmania College, Kurnool, was established in 1947 through the efforts of Dr. M. Abdul Haq and a few following prominent people who were the creamy layer of the Muslim Society:
1. Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed, M.A., B.L., 2. Moulana Syed Abdul Wahab Bukhari Sahib, M.A., L.T., 3. Mr. K. Abdus Salam Khan 4. Mr. Moulvi Nazeer Ahmed Sahib 5. Mr. Abdul Hameed Khan 6. Mr. M.J. Md. Sayeed, M.A.L.T., 7. Dr. Syed Abdul Lateef, Ph.D,Application for affiliation was made in October,1946 to the Madras University. Dr. M. Abdul Haq (Founder), Mr. Abdul Hamid Khan, M.L.C., Dr. Syed Abdul Lateef, played an active role and presented a Memorandum to Sir Mirza Ismail, President of His Exalted Highness, the Nizam's Council, for a capital grant of Rs. 2,00,000/- and the college was named as "OSMANIA COLLEGE". Dr. M. Abdul Haq took upon himself the onerous responsibility towards the establishment of the College in 1946-47, which is paying rich dividends to all sections of the society, and to say the least, every house in Kurnool has a graduate from Osmania College.

Noor Ahmed is the President of the Society, while Dr Javed Rasheed is the Vice-President. Mr. K. Salam Khan, Mr. M. Mahfuzul Haq and Mr. M.A. Haq have extended their services as Secretary of the Governing Body. Dr. M. Anwarul Haq who passed away served the Institution as Principal and Jt. Secretary. Mr.M. Mahfuzul Haq for a long time was the Secretary and Correspondent. Among the other members, the most prominent were Mr. G.A. Salam, Dr. Rasheed Ahmed who worked for the progress of the college. Mr. M. Mahfuzul Haq played a pivotal role in the development and expansion of Educational Institutions viz:
1.Parallel Degree Sections for Women 1986-87. 2.New Courses for B.A., B.Sc.,B.Com.,B.Com (Computers),B.C.A. and B.B.M., 3.B.Ed.,College 4.Law College 5.Hajirah Jr. College for Girls.Mr. M.A. Huq, who assumed charge as Secretary in 1997 was largely responsible to introduce M.Sc.(Information System) in 2000-2001.
The Present Secretary & Correspondent, Mrs. Azra Javed is a dynamic person, who handles all the issues with utmost care and great concern with the active help and assistance of all members. She is now at the helm of administration since June, 1999. She has successfully established M.A.,(English), M.A.,(Telugu), M.Sc.,(Mathematics),M.Sc.,(Physics), M.Sc.,(Organic Chemistry) & M.Com.(General) as Co- Education programmes. At the UG level, keeping in view the local needs of the area, the courses, B.Sc. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science and B.Sc. Mathematics, Electronics, Computer Science were started. A number of certificate courses were started as add-on courses. The college also started functioning as an Autonomous Institution from 2005, under her tenure. Further extension of Autonomy was extended by the UGC till 2023-2024. It is a matter of great pride, that under her able stewardship and wise guidance the college was accredited (2007) and re-accredited (2016) by NAAC with 'A' grade.
