Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER) was established in 2002 by Shri Lakshmi Ammal Education Trust. Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research is approved by the UGC and ranked 59th in NIRF ranking 2020 in the university domain. However, in NIRF 2021 ranking, Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research has been ranked 75th in the overall category. As per the NIRF ranking 2021 for the university category, BIHER has been ranked 51 and the NIRF ranking in the same category for the year 2020 was 59. The institute is spread over a massive campus size of 305 acres with a faculty strength of 1702. The total number of students enrolled is 15,589. Vision

Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research came into existence as deemed to be the university in 2004. The academy is popularly known as MAHER, established by the Meenakshi Ammal Trust. MAHER has been ranked at 24th position in the dental category in the NIRF ranking 2021. The Institute offers courses in the faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Health Sciences, Humanities and Science and Yoga Science and Therapy through its constituent Institutions. These constituent institutions include Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Meenakshi Ammal Dental College and Hospital, Meenakshi College of Nursing, Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing, and the Faculty of Physiotherapy and Hospital. The University has established three central research laboratories, with a large number of research projects, funded by DST, DBT and ICMR.
